Day 4: Osa Peninsula Adventure
After breakfast at the lodge, take a boat transfer to the local airstrip in Tortuguero for a flight to Puerto Jimenez and on to El Remanso Lodge.
Remote, wild and unbelievably scenic, the Osa Peninsula is a combination of jungle, rocky coastline and sandy beaches. Corcovado National Park spans over 100,000 acres of virgin and secondary rain forest of the peninsula. Trails begin along pristine beaches, wind through deep rain forest and follow riverbeds to magnificent waterfalls and swimming holes. You will have the chance to see chestnut mandibles toucans, scarlet macaws, parrots and peccaries, Baird’s tapirs and all four species of Costa Rica’s monkeys. Jaguars also live in the park and although these shy and elusive cats are rarely seen, you might encounter their footprints in the soft soil on the trails. Ancient trees, massive lianas, odd strangler figs and graceful forest palms are splendid examples of the flora typical of the remarkable rainforests preserved in this park.

Day 5: Osa Peninsula Hike
Set on 56 hectares of rainforest in the OSA Peninsula, El Remanso is a tropical paradise founded by a couple of Greenpeace activists and now managed by their daughter. Today, an experienced local guide will take you on one of the longest trails – a truly unique experience! This hike is not about distance, it’s about showing you all there is to see in this complex ecosystem where everything works together to create the lush and evergreen forest that stands before you. Despite the duration, the Long Hike is not strenuous at all and the terrain is quite flat.
