The Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica is encompassed by the province of Limon and it is a vast, sparsely populated region filled with gorgeous beaches, excellent fishing and many opportunities for thrilling water sports and getting up close and personal with nature. It is home to the isolated Tortuguero National Park, where endangered sea turtles can be seen laying their eggs on the beach.
The region is also known for its cacao farms, where you can see how the pods are harvested and the chocolate is made – with many delicious samples along the way of course. Some of the finest beaches in Costa Rica are located in this region and they are hardly ever crowded.
Puerto Viejo is also known for its fantastic nightlife and there is always live music and dancing until the early hours of the morning.
The Caribbean Coast is a little more rugged, wild and rustic than the Pacific Coast, offering a spicy and unique flavour that you will never forget.
